The Roman Art Museum of Mérida, designed by Spanish architect Rafael Moneo, was planned and built between 1980 and 1986. Although its exterior is simple and austere in terms of materials, upon exploring it, a complex system of scales is revealed, carefully ordered and structured, which makes sense in light of the monumentality of the works exhibited there. Despite its discreet integration into the city, this project stands out for bringing together the essential elements of architecture, which are often overshadowed by secondary aspects.
